Whilst on holiday in Mexico, my Dad Patrick King suffered a brain aneurysm. This resulted in a four week hospital stay in Mexico in intensive care following a major brain operation.

When we were finally able to bring my Dad home he was admitted to the Walton Centre in Liverpool. This is where he was provided with excellent medical care as well as emotional care and support not only for my dad but for the family as a whole.

This was a very challenging and stressful time for us all, but every member of staff took us under their wing and they became like a family to my dad and ourselves.

Sadly following discharge from the Sid Watkins Building, my Dad passed away in April this year. After this members of staff from the unit still offered support which wasn’t a surprise at all as they had always gone above and beyond.

We are completing the National Three Peaks challenge on September 2nd 2023 which is climbing the three highest mountains in the Uk. These are Scafell Pike, Snowdon and Ben Nevis. Our aim is to complete these three climbs in 24 hours.

We would like to raise money for the Sid Watkins Unit in order for their sensational work to continue and to help support the rehabilitation journey for other families like ours. Any donations would be extremely appreciated.

Thank you for taking time to listen to our story.
