Following an increase in infection rates and rising hospital admissions, NHS Charities Together has released an additional £12 million, set aside for its member charities in the event of a second wave. The additional funding is intended to be put towards whatever will make the biggest difference for the staff, volunteers and patients they support during this challenging time.

The Walton Centre Charity has received this second wave grant, worth £50,000, on top of £95,500 in urgent response grants received earlier in the year, and plans to use it to provide extra rest facilities over the winter months to help staff adhere to social distancing during breaks. Work will also carry on to improve existing rest areas to help promote the health and wellbeing for all staff.

“Once again, we’d like to thank everyone who has fundraised for, and donated to, the NHS Charities Together Covid-19 Appeal - their generosity is making a real difference to NHS Trusts up and down the country, including here at The Walton Centre.  It means that we will be able to support our dedicated staff as they continue to respond to the challenges of COVID-19." Madeleine Fletcher, Head of Fundraising
