Supporting world‑class neurological care for people like my husband
In April 2025, my husband was diagnosed with MOGAD, a rare inflammatory disease affecting the central nervous system. The diagnosis came with devastating consequences, including significant vision loss. Throughout this incredibly difficult time, The Walton Centre provided outstanding care, combining clinical expertise with genuine compassion at every step. Their support meant everything to us when we needed it most.
I’m running the Edinburgh Half Marathon in May to raise funds for The Walton Centre as a small way of saying thank you, and to help ensure they can continue supporting other patients and families facing similar challenges.
The Walton Centre in Liverpool is one of the UK’s leading specialist neuroscience hospitals. Each year, more than 100,000 patients are treated for neurological conditions. The Walton Centre Charity funds projects that go beyond standard NHS care including research and innovation, advanced technology and initiatives that enhance comfort, dignity, and wellbeing for patients and families.
