The Walton Centre looked after my Mum during the most difficult time of our lives and in that moment, I knew she could not have been in a better place for care. The kindness, compassion and dignity shown to her - and to us as a family - meant more than I can properly put into words.

The Walton Centre Charity exists to support that extraordinary work. They fund innovative technology not available through the NHS alone, they invest in services to enhance the well-being of patients and the medical staff around them, and provide free accommodation to families who suddenly find themselves far from home while a loved one receives urgent treatment.

I know first hand that this accommodation makes a real difference. Arriving into Liverpool in the early hours on the worst night of your life, I was met with such kindness and a place to sleep - no questions asked.

Running 13.1 miles feels like a small challenge compared to what so many families face, but it is something I can do to give back to a place that gave us so much care. If you are able to donate, thank you so much.
