Many years ago, my sister signed me up to go to a place called Lourdes in France with a bunch of people from Liverpool. Aside from being an awesome holiday; it gave me the chance to meet a whole host of amazing people, many of whom inspired me.

One of those people was Rachel (aka Pegonia) who, along with her husband Paul, made me feel welcome within the group, despite the fact I am a Manchester United fan and they support Liverpool and Everton respectively.

I don't feel it's my place to tell Rachel's story but during her time she needed, and received, some wonderful treatment and support from the Walton Centre to enable her to live her life to the fullest and I think it is a worthy cause for me to raise some money for so I will be running the Liverpool Santa Dash on 4th December to try and do that. It's a race I've done with some of the aforementioned group of Liverpudlians before so it seemed appropriate.

I'm aware times are hard and everyone is struggling so I am not setting my fundraising target high; if I do reach £500 I will be extremely grateful and I may up the target and offer to do something stupid like run wearing a United or Liverpool shirt through the streets of Liverpool.

Thank you for reading, even if you can't afford to donate. Take care stay safe.
